DORIAN JANMAAT
Dorian spent his early years living in both Ibiza and Cornwall, with several years of schooling in Spain—a period that ignited his passion for food, with vivid memories of visiting markets in picturesque coastal towns. He later returned to Cornwall in his teens, where he completed his studies at Cornwall College and began his first roles in the kitchen.
At the age of 23, Dorian earned a place as a Commis Chef at the world-renowned, two-Michelin-starred Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons, marking a pivotal moment in his career. Over the next nine years, he worked closely with Chef Patron Raymond Blanc OBE, rising through the ranks to become Head Chef in 2016.
In 2015, Dorian’s talents were recognised when he won the prestigious National Young Chef of the Year award at the Annual Awards of Excellence, a career-defining achievement.
In 2020, Dorian returned to Cornwall as Executive Head Chef at the luxury Relais & Châteaux property, The Idle Rocks, in St Mawes. There, he earned multiple accolades, including Restaurant of the Year at the Southwest Tourism Awards and 3 AA Rosettes for culinary excellence.
In July 2024, Dorian embarked on his most exciting chapter yet and opened the doors to his very own restaurant, Ardor. Located in the heart of St Ives, Ardor offers an authentic Mediterranean dining experience, celebrating the bold flavours of the region while showcasing the best of Cornwall's fresh, local produce. The menu features a variety of classic Mediterranean dishes, including pintxos, tapas, the freshest seafood, and dry-aged cuts of meat all cooked over charcoal.
